Arjan Breukhoven Arjan Breukhoven was born in Rotterdam on May 18 1962. Initially he studied organ with Jan Brandwijk and later organ and churchmusic at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where, amongst others, Wim van Beek and Bert Matter were his teachers. At the same time, he studied piano, singing, improvisation and choir direction. During this period he also received lessons from the famous French organist and educationalist Gaston Litaize. He also completeted the Kurt Thomascourse for choir- and orchestra direction.
Annually Arjan Breukhoven gives a great number of concerts both at home as well as in the most countries of Europe and in Australia as organist or pianist, accompanying soloists and choirs, and as a director. This year, 2009, he shall give 5 international concert tours abroad among which: Russia, France, Germany, Austria and Belgium. In 2010 he goes to Australia for a concert tour. As a pianist he worked together with national and international famous artists like Vicki Brown, Kamahl, Ernst-Daniël Smid, Henk Poort, Marjolein Keuning, Cor Bakker, Louis van Dijk, Daniel Wayenberg, Berdien Stenberg, Ben Cramer and a lot of other well known musicians. The biggest organ he ever played was the organ of the St. Patrick's Basilica of Fremantle in Western Australia with 127 stops. As a organist and as a pianist he has developed his own, very wide ranged, style of improvisation. Besides this all he is also director of several well-known Dutch Malechoirs.
He regularly participates in several radio and TV broadcasts. He also participated in a great number of CD and DVD productions, amongst which the highly acclaimed series of CD's for organ improvisation. As a composer he is renowned for his many compositions for choir, organ and other instruments. He is organist of the Old Church of Berkel and Rodenrijs.
